Greg Laffere – Head Football Coach
True North Classical Academy is proud to announce its Founding Head Football Coach, Greg Laffere, for its inaugural Titan football team for the 2019-2020 school year. Coach Laffere is a native of Basehor, Kansas. Laffere earned his Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Science in 2001, from the University of Miami (Fla.), where he started as an offensive lineman and laid the groundwork for a National Championship in 2001.
After playing for the Hurricanes, Laffere went on to coach at Florida International University as their Assistant Coach for offensive line, tight ends, and special teams. Under Laffere’s leadership, FIU’s offensive line showed marked improvement, helping the Golden Panthers offense improve by nearly 50 yards per game and helping to lead FIU to its first two winning seasons in school history. He was an integral part in the team’s success in capturing their first ever bowl win in 2010.
Following his tenure at FIU, Laffere served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Ave Maria University (AMU) Gyrenes from 2012-2015. AMU is known for its strong grounding in the liberal arts and moral formation of its students. During Laffere’s tenure at AMU, he helped lead the Gyrenes to their best record in school history in 2013 with an 8-2 record.
True North Classical Academy welcomes Coach Laffere with open arms and believes he will help build True North’s football program into a team that will contend with top-ranking teams in the State. First and foremost, Coach Laffere knows the role of athletics and football in the context of a liberal arts education. We are confident that Laffere will help True North continue to mold the hearts and character of its scholar-athletes to all that is True, Good, and Beautiful.
